The community counseling program in Duquesne University's School of Education has the distinction of being one of the first in Pennsylvania to receive the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program accreditation.

Assistant Professor Dr. Mark Crider, chair of undergraduate nursing and project director for Operation BSN: Serving the Nation, Healing the Sick, received a three-year Health Resources and Services Administration Grant for $815,043.

University Archivist Wins National Award
University Archivist Tom White, GA ‘99, has been selected as Winner of the Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History for his book, Witches of Pennsylvania: Occult History and Lore.

Muslim Interfaith Event Honors Educators
Dr. Marinus Iwuchukwu, associate professor of theology at the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts and director of Duquesne 's Christian-Muslim Dialogue Consortium, was honored during Humanity Day for strengthening the bonds of humanity among people of all faiths.

Mind, Heart, and Spirit Awards: Call for Nominations

Each year a select number of Duquesne alumni who exemplify the Mission of the University in their daily lives are recognized through the Mind, Heart and Spirit Awards. These achievements are accomplished through career successes and service to others. This year’s Mind, Heart and Spirit Awards will be presented on Friday, Nov. 21. Event details will be announced once the honorees have been chosen in early September. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Aug. 29. Honorees must be present to accept their award.

The Summer Company will conclude its 2014 season with William Inge’s classic American comedy BUS STOP, running Aug. 21-23 and Aug. 28-30 at the Peter Mills Auditorium in Rockwell Hall.

Libraries to Adopt “Next Generation System”
Gumberg Library and the Law School’s Center for Legal Information have jointly purchased a new integrated library system. The update will allow for significant savings for the University over the next five years, while better meeting the needs of today’s library users. The new public interface will blend elements of a library catalog with search functionality similar to Google. The new system is expected to launch in August.

A-10 Announces Record-Setting Honor Roll
The Atlantic 10 Conference set a record for the highest number of student-athletes honored on its bi-annual Commissioner's Honor Roll, with 1,339 total honorees.

Dukes Football to Appear Twice on ESPN3
The Duquesne football team will appear twice – an Oct. 11 game at Central Connecticut State and at home against Robert Morris on Nov. 22- as part of the Northeast Conference's ESPN3 television package.

Crimmins, Kuntz Named to Watch List
Sophomore placekicker Austin Crimmins and junior linebacker Christian Kuntz have been named to the College Football Performance Award watch list for their respective positions.

Szamosi Leads Hungry to European Championship
Amadea Szamosi led the Hungarian National Team to its fourth straight victory at the FIBA U20 European Women's Championship. Hungary defeated Romania and Lithuania, with Szamosi leading all scorers with 20 points in their win over Lithuania.
