Duquesne Welcomes President Ken Gormley
On July 1, Kenneth G. Gormley became Duquesne University's 13th president. Gormley is the third lay president in the University's 138-year history. A native Pittsburgher, nationally recognized Constitutional scholar, best-selling author and former dean of the School of Law, Gormley brings a deep commitment to the Spiritan mission and tradition of community engagement.


Interim Deans Named
Dr. Paula S. Turocy has been appointed interim dean of the John J. Rangos, Sr., School of Health Sciences. An associate professor in the Department of Athletic Training, Turocy currently directs the University's Pre-Medical and Health Professions Programs and will continue to do so during her tenure as dean. The Honorable Maureen Lally-Green has been appointed interim dean of the School of Law. Lally-Green is currently an adjunct professor in the law school and served as judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania from 1998-2009. She then served as associate general secretary and/or director of the Office of Church Relations for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh until August 2015.

FlexTech Classrooms Earn Award
Duquesne's design of its FlexTech classrooms recently beat out 24 competitors to earn a prestigious 2016 Harman Innovation Award at the annual UBTech Conference. The Harman awards honor innovative use and best practices of audio-visual and IT technology at colleges and universities under five separate categories.

Philip Manning, GM'16, recently received two offers as First Violinist, in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Victoria Symphony. A native of British Columbia, he accepted the latter, where the first concert of the summer season is July 20. "To get an audition for a major symphony orchestra anywhere in North America or Europe on a first try is really unusual," says Charles Stegeman, Manning's violin professor at Duquesne.
