As the only Spiritan university in the world, our community bears a 
special responsibility to assist our founders and sponsors in their efforts to serve the poor and alleviate suffering.
Now, our help is most needed in Haiti. Spiritans have been working there for decades, and are on the front lines providing hope and recovery in the wake of last month's devastating earthquake.
Duquesne has created a fund to raise money that will be sent to the Provincial of the Spiritans in Haiti, Fr. Paulin Innocent, C.S.Sp. He and his fellow Spiritans - priests "on the ground" with direct experience of the needs of their own people - will determine the best use for the money we collect and send to them. Thus, we avoid the presumption that we know what is best for the suffering people of Haiti and the risk of our generosity being misplaced or undelivered.
